“Initially and depending on the condition of your skin, it may take only one or two peels - or even a few peels - to get the results that you desire. Many of our aesthetics patients maintain their new look by getting “skin maintenance” peels regularly – which could be as often as every six to eight weeks or two to three times per year. Results obtained from chemical peels can be quite remarkable, and that’s why patients love them!”- Liet N. Le, MD
During a chemical peel at our practice, a medical grade chemical solution is applied to the skin, which makes older layers of skin “blister” and gradually peel off. This process causes fresh, less wrinkled, and more radiant skin to be revealed! Chemical peels can be done on the face, neck, or hands. Chemical peels are very effective for reducing fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth, treating wrinkles, drastically improving the appearance of mild scars, treating certain types of acne, improving skin texture, reducing age spots, freckles, sun damage, and also treating melasma due to pregnancy or birth control pills.
At our practice, we offer patients both the VI PEEL and our signature RDA Chemical Peel. We also use the CROSS (Chemical Rejuvenation of Skin Scars) Technique for acne scar revisions. During this treatment, 30% Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) is applied to individual acne scars. After a few sessions, acne scars become significantly less noticeable. For some patient cases, we also combine chemical peels for acne scar revisions with microneedling or CO2 laser treatments.
During the 1 to 2 days following a chemical peel, your skin may feel tight and sunburned. Usually by day 2 or 3, your skin will gradually begin to peel. For most patients, the peeling process lasts from 3 to 5 days. While many patients will get the results they are looking for after only one or two chemical peel treatments, peels may be repeated at regular intervals until the desired results are obtained. Since you will have the sentiment to be “under transformation” during this time period, it is important to arrange your social and professional calendars accordingly.
If you are looking to obtain a younger complexion and achieve more radiant skin, chemical peels are a great and very affordable option to consider!
